Tabasco.

One of the most universal add ons people use in their food. What makes it so special? What makes so many people around the world have that one tiny red bottle with a green collar in their kitchen? JUST THREE THINGS. Distilled vinegar, salt and red pepper. Yes, that's it. Don't believe me? Check the ingredients written at the back of the bottle. How do they do it? No one knows. Its one of the biggest secrets in the culinary world according to me and not something that someone can just... make. Tabasco.

No continental food seems complete without a drop or two of Tabasco. Used in seasoning, marinating or just sprinkling a few drops on a boring roast chicken, Tabasco is also a movie star. It appeared in many movies, some as far back as Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times in 1936. Whoa. That's quite a legacy for a simple bottle with red liquid in it. This legendary hot sauce was first produced in 1868 by Edward McIlhenny in Louisiana. Thank you sir, and bravo!

Tabasco also starred in an animated version in Disney's The Princess & the Frog, the first Disney movie featuring a black princess! Tiana dreams of opening a restaurant and adds Tabasco to a boring old recipe referring to it as "the only thing missing".

I kind of went on a crazy fact-stating rant there, but the magic of Tabasco just struck me on the dinner table tonight. Here's to spicing up our lives forever ;)
