The Shoot.

Who thought wearing good clothes and looking pretty could be...so...TIRING! I now have huge respect for models. Can't believe they do this for a living! We had planned to take 5 main pictures in all, but had the stamina only for 2. That doesn't mean we took only 2 pictures. Oh no, we took a gazillion! But only a few were actually usable. Modelling is really nothing but hard work. I sincerely apologize for still not finding an Aria. So for all those Aria-ish people out there, I'm sorry! We only managed to dress as Emily, Hanna and Spencer. Here's how it turned out:

Preparation.

Its over. My 12th standard boards are OVER. It's weird, the minute I realized that I had nothing but free time on my hands, my inspirations just kinda stopped. Before during that disgusting one month, everything around me seemed interesting enough to be blogged about. You guys know that cause I blogged about a bottle of Tabasco :P. So now that these 3 idle months lay before me, I don't know where I'm gonna get my inspiration from. But hey! Don't you fret! I've got a REAL exciting thing planned sometime next week. A photo shoot. Yes, it'll be my first. My beautiful friends and I will show you how you can dress like the Liars.

As of now, my friend Rujuta will dress as Hanna. My friend Aishwarya will be Spencer and I will be Emily. We chose this according to our body and hair type. I know the Liars are American but we've tried to get as close as possible and seen who looks the most like each of them, if not the least :P. What's that? I missed out Aria? Yeah I know :P. But I haven't found an Aria-ish friend so far so I'm just gonna keep looking!

I hope you'll are as excited as we are about this!

Pretty Little Liars.

A topic I've been DYING to blog about but never had enough time. One of my favourite shows currently, this is the perfect example of diverse and amazing fashion. The four characters: Hanna, Aria, Spencer and Emily have their own unique style. I identify with Hanna and Emily's fashion the most.

They just won the People's Choice Award for best TV Drama and I think they really deserved it. And wow, they all looked SO amazing on the red carpet.

Emily: I identify the most with her clothes and body type. She normally wears jeans, shirts and boots, casual skirts and tops. Things that I love!  Also, she isn't extremely thin like the rest and has a curvy figure. Emily has an Asian look about her and her eyes are always linered lightly to make them look pretty and delicate.

Hanna: I simply adore Hanna's fashion as well though sometimes it gets a tad too girly for me. She wears hot, short dresses, shorts and stockings and leggings. Blonde and thin, Hanna's every guy's dream. Her eyes are light and have smoky make up which make her look so gorgeous.

Aria: Aria's tiny compared to the rest but has this exotic beauty to her. Her fashion is very out there, sometimes a little too out there :P. Aria loves wearing clashing patterns, loud colours and vintage stuff. Her big and beautiful eyes are fully exploited with dark eye make up.

Spencer: Smart, confident and sleek would define Spencer's style. She wears florals and formals and always looks impeccable. Spencer's hair is also always neat. Braided, knotted, tied and even when let loose, it's never out of place. Spencer's alert eyes have very little make up. This gives her the smart and confident look she radiates.

Four girls. Amazing fashions and so diverse. Pretty Little Liars is a trendsetter.
I love it. My friends love it, and this is me just warming up.
In my next post, i'll tell you guys how YOU can look as good as them.

Until then: Pick your favourite Liar, compare your body type and features and choose your favourite style.
I'll be back sooner than you can say PLL to help you out!

LBD.

Okay so in my very first article I’m going to talk about the perfect black dress that every girl must own! Going out to a party, lunch or dinner date, movies or anything? A black dress is always perfect!

Wanna know where I got the inspiration for my perfect black dress?  One of the classics, with, in my opinion, the most beautiful woman ever. Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The movie begins with a scene showing Hepburn in a beautiful black Givenchy dress.
And since I always dress a little formally, this dress floored me.

Little Black Dress :

The little black dress or LBD as it is popularly known, is a cult that’s going around the world and it makes me wanna mention a little about it.  This is one dress that is always easy to find.
Obviously you don’t have to wear Chanel, Dior, or any of the high-end brands. You can check out Zara, Forever 21, or Chemistry maybe, but if you don’t want to spend even that much, you can totally hit the local boutiques and get yourself a pretty LBD.

Here are some of the boutiques to check out in Mumbai :
Reiss, Waterfield Road, Bandra
God made me Funky, Pali Market, Bandra.
Guapa Chica, Ambedkar Road, Khar .
Soap Opera, Breach Candy, South Mumbai.

Now, the whole beauty of the little black dress is that it’s perfect for any occasion! Going for a formal thing? Wear an LBD, gold jewellery (personally I think it goes best), and tie your hair up. It always makes for a fantastic look! Something informal coming up? Wear an LBD, leave your hair loose, and just a pair of earrings should suffice.

This is a trend that has been in vogue for many years and I don’t think it is fading out any time soon.  So, next time you’re heading some place, wear the Little Black Dress and look fabulous!

More coming soon.
Stay chic, stay classy

Tabasco.

One of the most universal add ons people use in their food. What makes it so special? What makes so many people around the world have that one tiny red bottle with a green collar in their kitchen? JUST THREE THINGS. Distilled vinegar, salt and red pepper. Yes, that's it. Don't believe me? Check the ingredients written at the back of the bottle. How do they do it? No one knows. Its one of the biggest secrets in the culinary world according to me and not something that someone can just... make. Tabasco.

No continental food seems complete without a drop or two of Tabasco. Used in seasoning, marinating or just sprinkling a few drops on a boring roast chicken, Tabasco is also a movie star. It appeared in many movies, some as far back as Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times in 1936. Whoa. That's quite a legacy for a simple bottle with red liquid in it. This legendary hot sauce was first produced in 1868 by Edward McIlhenny in Louisiana. Thank you sir, and bravo!

Tabasco also starred in an animated version in Disney's The Princess & the Frog, the first Disney movie featuring a black princess! Tiana dreams of opening a restaurant and adds Tabasco to a boring old recipe referring to it as "the only thing missing".

I kind of went on a crazy fact-stating rant there, but the magic of Tabasco just struck me on the dinner table tonight. Here's to spicing up our lives forever ;)

Roots.

Hey guys! It's been a while. Not studying for my boards has kept me quite busy, but couldn't keep me away for long!

Before we develop a taste for caviar and champagne, there's always food that we've grown up having. Food that we love. Food that you don't pay more than 50 bucks for. Food that our parents had when they went to college. Yeah... Imagine that! There's this tiny place called Prakash in Shivaji Park.
Let me give you a few reasons to go there:

  • You share a table with complete strangers cause there just isn't enough place for one table per group. So you sit next to or opposite people you've never seen before in your life and who find absolutely nothing weird in sitting next to a group of giggling teens :P

  • Then ofcourse, if you're tight on a budget, a meal for two really wont cost you more than a 100 bucks. Yes. I'm serious.
  • The service is pretty brilliant. Shirts and shorts clad waiters bustle around the small restaurant with utmost efficiency. If you know Marathi, great! If you don't, take a Marathi friend along with you to make you feel more at home.
  • Most cheap food ends up making us sick and eating bland food at home, but not this joint! Contrary to what elitists think, this place is pretty clean and hey! My parents ate here so it really can't be that bad :P
  • Lastly, go to this place for its simplicity and really yummy Maharashtrian snacks. My favs are the Misal, Sabudana Vada and Piyush. All costs around 30 bucks.

That's right guys, don't ever forget your roots. Don't ever forget what got you to the top and what made you who you are. Don't let the glitz and glamour that you finally achieve ever get so blinding that you can't see the path that got you there. And lastly, good food isn't always found in the swankiest places. Don't forget the simple pleasures while enjoying the exotic ones :)
