The Lull.

Never has there been a more unfashionable period in my life (being a chubby 10 year old with a weird haircut doesn't count :P). So yes. That's what I want to say, studying and fashion just don't mix. Kinda like stripes and dots. I'm so glad that I'm hardly exposed to the public, cause if you saw me now... Wow...

But hey, that's life. When you gotta study you gotta study. No matter how less the time is to pick your clothes in the morning because you gotta use that for last minute cramming, no matter how geekily you have to tie your hair so that it doesn't bother you while writing your paper. It's just something that has to be done. So do what I'm doing. Not doubting my fashion sense and just trying to get these boards over with as soon as possible cause after the lull you ALWAYS have the storm ;)

That's all the time I have for confessing. Gotta go study and  not think about how I look!

Introducing!

So here's a new fun thing I'm gonna try. My best friend's gonna be a celebrity blogger here and impart all her food and fashion wisdom at least once a month. If you'll love her, I'm gonna get her to blog more often. What's her bloggername? Don't know it yet. She's gonna surprise me, and you guys too! So, stay hungry because the course coming up is gonna be quite a whopper :D

I'll let you know her name shortly, also, if you guys have anything to talk about food and fashion, you can always tweet me @devikambing :)

The best twitter conversations regarding food and fashion could appear in my next post ;)

That's it for now.

Binge Eating.

Okay, so you all know what a terrible time it is JUST before your exams. The constant obligation to study, the constant guilt of not having studied and most importantly, ALWAYS FEELING HUNGRY.

Now this could be a problem for people who are a little too concerned about their weight. Me? I'm concerned! Totally concerned! But.. Well.. Food's just more important I guess :P
Before your exams is the perfect time to just eat all the comfort food that you feel guilty about usually eating. Best part? Your mom wont nag you.
Why? Cause you're studying ofcourse! ;)
Catch up on all the junk you missed . Everything you'd been avoiding cause a hot party had been coming up. Just let loose... EAT.
You'll have loads of time to shape up after, honest!

So, in conclusion, let me tell you a few great places to get great comfort food from:
Try Le15 at Phoenix. By far the best cupcakes I've had in Bombay. Hazelnut, Belgian Chocolate, Oreo & Red Velvet are some of the flavours they have! My favourite: Belgian Chocolate and Hazelnut
This place also has heavenly Macaroons! Light, airy cookie like things sandwiched with yummy fillings! Flavours? Rose, Lavender, Passion fruit, Coffee, Hazelnut, etc. My fav: Hazelnut & Rose

You've all heard of Mad Over Donuts I'm sure! Drop by an pick out your favourite Donuts! They have the Classic glazed, Cinnaster, Double Trouble, Dark Knight and pizza donuts as well! Go loose yourselves in these great American treats!

Comfort Food can also be made at home! Try some of my personal favourites: Grilled Cheese, Hot chocolate, Mac n Cheese! I'll tell you how to make them a little later, my books seem to be calling me to their land of complete boredom! Till then, let loose and eat!

What NOT... no... NEVER to wear!

  1. CLASHING PATTERNS.
Stripes with polka dots and checks with stripes. You could not look worse in these combinations! They're okay for... a clown, yes. You... NO! Instead, keep it simple!if you're wearing a printed pant, go easy on the top. A plain one will do just fine. Don't end up looking like Phoebe Buffay. It was funny when she wore it... and will still be funny when you do =
  2. DON'T OVER-ACCESSORIZE.
When you go out, its natural to wanna flaunt everything beautiful you own. But remember, there's always another party.
    Don't:
Wear a hairband and earrings and glasses and a bracelet and a watch and a ring and a dressy belt.
First thought when someone sees you,"Whoa! Too much!" OR "Awww... trying so hard..."

    Instead:
Wear the hairband and remember, you can always wear your new earrings the NEXT time.
    Accessorize alternately.
  3. DRESS FOR THE OCCASION.
Don't end up looking too dressed when the occasion doesn't demand it. Don't give people the feeling that what you've worn for the party is all that you've been thinking about (even though you have ;).

Procrastination.

This post has absolutely NOTHING to do with food or fashion. It's just an embarrassed confession. Procrastination has to be one of the things I do most commonly. Sad but true. Take this blog for instance, I posted only during the first week of its creation and now here I am, months later, a little rusty. The fresh excitement with which I'd started this in the first place seems to have faded away. As do all of my monthly crushes. When I started this blog it was Ezra Fitz from Pretty Little Liars and now, quite certainly, it's Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. But don't you guys worry! I'm not gonna let this disease (procrastination) of mine come in the way of my passion for food and fashion. I solemnly swear i'll update this blog as regularly as I can. So stay tuned for 'BASIC FASHION TIPS' and 'DRESSING LIKE OUR FAVOURITE CELEBS'! Oooh and definitely a few things about food; Jamie Oliver, my food idol and a few easy to make recipes! Till then, as Steve Jobs would say,"Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish"

So what's new this season

Fitflops.
They're new, they're hot and they're good for you! The Fitflop rage is finally hitting India. Everywhere I go people are wearing them. I'M wearing them!

Reasons to invest in a pair of Fitflops:

  • They go on almost everything. Jeans, shorts, dresses, skirts, you name it!
  • They tone your legs! FitFlop™ sandals were first created in 2007, after Dr David Cook and Darren James – both biomechanists at London South Bank University – collaborated with Marcia Kilgore (businesswoman and busy mum) to create the world's first muscle-activating flip flop. Over twelve million pairs have been sold since, and now we've branched out into clogs, sneakers, shoes and boots too.

FitFlop footwear features a patent-pending Microwobbleboard™ midsole which can help increase the time that your muscles are engaged every single time you take a step:

They might be a little expensive but they last really long and go on almost everything! And hey, what are sales for? Checkout the website and ask an uncle or aunt staying abroad to get them for you! Or do it when you go there yourself! ;) http://www.fitflop.com/sale/icat/sale/
